Adaptive Rowing

Adaptive Rowing is for anyone with a disability. The only restriction being is it save for the individual to be on water. In the vast, vast majority of cases it is. West Midlands clubs have a commitment to be open to all. The sport can be purely recreational - a nice time spent on the water - or highly competitive - high standard events. It's your choice!

About the group

There are well established adaptive groups at Stratford-upon-Avon, Pengwern (Shrewsbury) and Gloucester. There is a national drive to expand the number of clubs offering adaptive rowing. The West Midlands team will work to find a suitable club for you

Most adaptive rowing clubs now follow a "Mixed Ability" approach where those with a disability row in crew boats with their able-bodied fellow club members.

Many types of disability are catered for  including many types of learning, visual and physical impairment.
